Bidshot Wireless Services achieves SEI-CMMI Level 5 Certification back
Bidshot Wireless Services, creators of the original text messaging-enabled auction site Bidshot.com, has achieved the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 5 certification, the highest standard of quality in the Information Technology Industry worldwide.
CMMI is the internationally recognized model that organizations such as Intel, NOKIA, JP Morgan, and even NASA compare their own processes to. This model was born in the federally-funded Software Engineering Institute (SEI) established at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The assessment was carried out by SEI-authorized ECCInternational.
“We are proud to be among the first in the Philippines, along with our affiliates Chikka.com and Crushcow.com, to be certified for CMMI Level 5. This is truly a great achievement for us and this validates our earnest commitment to higher and higher standards for our company, as we are constantly striving to give our telco partners and customers the best products and services available, “said Patrick Garcia, Managing Director of Bidshot Wireless Services, Inc.
Bidshot Wireless Services has leveraged off proprietary suffixing and menu-based SMS technology to pioneer such wireless services as polls, interactive TV and corporate promos as early as 2000. A mobile enabler of on-line communities, such as Bidshot.com and Manilafaces.com, the company recently partnered with indiatimes.com to launch its auction and mobile alerts platform for mobile subscribers throughout India beginning 2006.
Bidshot is “People’s Choice” for e-commerce back
Bidshot Dotcom Company, creators of the original text messaging-enabled auction site recently won the 2005 People’s Choice Award at the 8th Philippine Web Awards. Bidshot bested seven other websites to win the coveted award in the e-commerce category for websites that faciliate buying and selling over the Internet. An affiliate Crushcow.com, a mobile-enabled personals and matchmaking site, was meanwhile named People’s Choice in the e-services category.
“We are extremely pleased with winning the People’s Choice Awards at this year’s Webbys. Bidshot was indeed developed for people with a highly mobile lifestyle; who enjoy the Internet immensely, but for whom transacting via text is also second nature,” said Patrick Garcia, founder and managing director of Bidshot Wireless Services.
Bidshot was launched in 2000 amidst a texting revolution that was already in full swing in Manila. The company introduced an SMS-enabled on-line auction with seamlessly-integrated and convenient wireless features. On the Bidshot auction platform, users became enabled to bid for items, to be alerted for counter bids, to post messages for buyers and sellers, and to close deals all via text messaging. MMS features were introduced as early as 2002.
“But over the years, we also believe that the reputability of our buying and selling community has more and more to do with the popularity Bidshot enjoys . We merely provide a venue and facilitate trade with web and mobile technology that they are very familiar with,” added Garcia.
Bidshot.com took the concept of an auction site and mobile-enabled it in the most intuitive way, so that people with limited Internet access may continue to enjoy trade at auctions using only their cell phones.
An affiliate of the popular PC to mobile text messaging service Chikka.com, Bidshot has leveraged off proprietary suffixing and menu-based SMS technology to pioneer such wireless services as polls, interactive TV and corporate promos as early as 2000. A mobile enabler of on-line communities, the company recently partnered with indiatimes.com to launch its auction and mobile alerts platform for mobile subscribers throughout India beginning 2006.
Bidshot launches ManilaFaces.com back
Bidshot Wireless Services, creators of the original mobile-enabled online auction Bidshot.com, has entered the Men’s Entertainment content space with the launch of ManilaFaces.com, an Internet-based photo gallery of female modeling aspirants that one may also subscribe to on their mobile phones.
“ManilaFaces.com features locally-based models in a variety of fashion shots. All the images in the online gallery may easily be downloaded to your mobile phone, a wireless feature powered by Bidshot and allowing you to take these beautiful models with you wherever you may go,“ said Patrick Garcia, managing director of Bidshot Wireless Services, Inc.
“The service initially available to Globe and Smart subscribers also aims to provide the models with the widest exposure and possibly open opportunities for professional modeling assignments in the future,” according to Garcia.
“Mobile phone subscribers are a democratic lot, welcoming both information and quality entertainment through their mobiles. They are thus also natural opinion-makers. The Filipino subscriber has proven this many times whether during political upheavals or in voting Ms. Philippines to become Ms. World. Who knows the next supermodel may trace their first big break from ManilaFaces?” Garcia added.
A pageant to determine “the face of ManilaFaces.com” is actually slated on December 9, at FIAMMA Ristorante in Jupiter Street Makati.
